It's Time

It's time for us to change how we blog on The Boyles are Back in Town.

I originally started this blog back when Ryan and I had been dating for about 5 months. Nathan and Abby were coming to spend the summer with Ryan. He wanted to be able to share their activities with Nathan's and Abby's other parents in North Carolina as well as his extended family, so I suggested he set up a blog.

Ryan and I started keeping the blog together. I did most of the writing with Ryan adding details and comments. Ryan took most of the pictures and chose which ones went on the blog. That first summer, after Ryan and the kids went home for the night, I would write the entries and then Ryan and I would revise them together over the phone.

Because we were not discussing marriage or long-term commitment at that point in our relationship, I chose to write in the 3rd person so that if Ryan and I were to break up, they could still have a nice record of their time together without it being my account of their summer written in my words. Along the same vein, I made scrapbooks of their Utah summer but didn't include pictures of myself. If we were to break up, I didn't want them to have scrapbooks full of their dad's old girlfriend.

As you know, we our relationship developed and eventually I joined the family permanently. It's been wonderful for all of us to be a real family now and it's been a real joy to keep the blog and look back on the last few years we've enjoyed together.

It's time for me to start writing in the 1st person. No more 3rd person accounts because I'm not going anywhere! Oh, and I'm in the scrapbooks now, too. ;-)

Stay tuned... we have some new events to blog about!
